I REFER to the story about West Midlands MEP Anthea McIntyre’s support of GM crops (MEP: GM crops decision is ‘very much welcome’, Hereford Times, January 22).
I am not against GM food in principle, but there are two scientific points which have to be considered before they are grown: 1) Has it been proved that GM food is safe for humans to eat in the long term? Not yet.
2) Is it possible to prevent 100% GM crops cross-pollinating with natural crops? No.
Case closed.
