MY mother always told me it costs nothing to say thank you. I know people such as councillors and MPs do not get many thank-yous but it is nice when you do.

Having been a councillor since 1973, I know how rare a thank you is, but complaints are almost daily.

Well, my first thank-you goes to a person or persons from Leominster who contacted MP Bill Wiggin to inform him that I had been told by consultants at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham that I did not qualify for treatment with a machine that could treat me because I had not had a biopsy for a lump on my lung.

I could not have a biopsy because I have a very bad aneurism which would not stand the strain.

Having been contacted by the aforementioned person or persons, Mr Wiggin contacted the QE and this set up another round of scans and tests, but the result was the same because of the aneurism.

A group of consultants and my Macmillan nurse had a meeting on the Monday before Christmas and decided to overrule the fact that I had not had a biopsy and give me treatment with this new machine.

By the time you read this I will have already signed the forms and been marked up for the treatments which will be in the very near future.

So a very big thank you to the person or people from Leominster, Bill Wiggin, the consultant from the QE and my Macmillan nurses, as all have played a big part in my life.

This is a very good start to 2015 for me but Mr Wiggin, I will be putting up against any of your candidates that your party puts up for the Herefordshire Council elections in May to retain my seat and will be fighting fit. Thanks.
