I FOUND myself deeply disturbed by the lead article regarding Kington Medical Practice (Hereford Times, January 15).

The difficulty of recruiting new GPs is very real and the centre is experiencing a problem many other organisations could identify with.

In my professional capacity I am working with two organisations in the county seeking to recruit people to Hereford, and face the issues of remoteness from a motorway, along with the preference for posts in London and the South East.

At a personal level I can only praise those working at the medical centre, having never failed to obtain the support and care I have needed recently from both doctors and nurses.

Highly inflammatory statements such as "Everyone's fed up" from Mr Lloyd, and "absolute shambles" from Mr Bounds do nothing to encourage those struggling to provide an effective service under difficult circumstances.

They need our encouragement and support, not statements that can only demoralise, and more significantly do not represent the views of many people who are sympathetic with the issues the centre currently faces and is attempting to resolve.
