REFERRING to Paul Young’s letter (Time for action on A49, Letters, January 8), he should be aware that the Highways Agency is responsible for the A49, not Herefordshire Council.
If he is uncertain of the standing of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (which surprises me after his 55 years of driving) he should contact his car insurer and he will find they give preferential rates to members of the IAM. Need one say more?
He is right about the characteristics of the A49 and therefore any sensible driver will be more alert to danger than on a dual carriageway or a motorway. Sadly, some of us are not and others thus suffer.
