THE council wish to develop Rotherwas, which I believe is a good idea. However, without good transport links, it is doomed to failure.

We need jobs for all and if this encourages businesses to come here, that should be championed. In developing the site, use the railway, build a new station and create a distribution centre to ship people and goods.

The same should be done at Moreton-on-Lugg. Use the disused railway lines for bus and cycle lanes. Our Victorian ancestors got it right, why not capitalise on the infrastructure they put in?

Without an integrated approach, we will grind to a halt. As a city, we are being left behind now. We need to develop links with the outside world and encourage business to come here. Let’s make a change for the better and do something to be proud of! Get building now!

I would also like to comment on last week’s letter from G Harding, who highlighted the fact that east would be the best route for SC2.

I feel that we need to continue with the route as it is at present but then, in agreement with G Harding, extend the relief road around to link in with our major roads upon the east. Our trade comes from Shropshire, Worcester and Gloucester so it will meet those needs.

Secondly, upon reading that Ross-on-Wye have agreed to the development of Model Farm, I think that we need to move fast to open up trade links as they have a motorway on their doorstep.

If you were a business, where would you go? Ross, obviously! Sort it now or miss out completely.
