I AM sure that I am not the only member of the Christian community who is dismayed at the anti-Muslim comments that the Hereford Times received recently (Muslim group ready to discuss centre plan, November 27).

Although it was a difficult decision for you to make when considering the right of free speech, I agree with the action to close down the relevant Facebook page.

Having had many Muslim colleagues, students and friends, from many countries around the world, I know that most of them want to live in harmony with others of different religious and cultural backgrounds.

Every group, sadly including Christians, has its extremists and it is these from the Muslim community who attract undue attention from the media, and give a very false public image of Muslims as a whole in the UK today.

Muslims in this country have as much right to have places of public worship as anyone else, so I hope that the council and the Hereford Islamic Society are able to work together to find a location that is suitable for all concerned. Meanwhile, let those of us who are Christians show the love of Jesus to our neighbours in welcome and help in whatever way we can.
