I RECENTLY travelled the length of Britain from Dorset to the northern tip of Scotland and then back to my Herefordshire home.

Never did I once witness roads with potholes or uncut verges, although in Scotland backs of verges were uncut to allow the wild flowers to grow.

Then we reached Herefordshire. How very sad.

The county I always thought so lush and beautiful now with uncut litter-strewn verges and roads full of potholes. I feel wild flowers would struggle to find enough daylight to grow with verges so long to say nothing about the danger to motorists.

Travelling through Hereford I had to try to avoid the sunken manhole covers and potholes. Grass verges were again uncut in the city.

So I have rapidly come to the conclusion that my council tax is not being spent here.

I am now told our waste is collected fortnightly so another saving is made. We have no street lighting in my area and no library I am aware of. So I can only assume some savings there too.

Savings made from cuts in vital services plus our council tax money must go somewhere, so if anyone knows please enlighten me.
