FURTHER to the letter from Ian Phillips of I and S Coaches, the residents of Belmont, Clehonger, Kingstone and Madley should be very grateful to Ian for providing us with an evening service for the last six years. We shall certainly miss his evening bus for those who work later than 6pm or non-drivers who want to go to Hereford socially or for evening shopping or entertainment.

It is a great shame at a time when we have just had the new market development that we now have no way of getting there because Herefordshire Council have decided there will be no subsidies for evening bus services.

From Monday to Thursday the last bus leaving Hereford is 7.42pm for Ross and the city bus services finish even earlier.

We should also say a thank you to Clive Gillanders,of Abbey Cars, who has been serving the villages of the Golden Valley for many years and more recently Ross villages, Kinnersley and the Hereford-Cheltenham service.

It seems a great shame that local operators providing a service for people they know have lost out.
