I AM writing to let your readers know about the new live screenings at Leominster's community cinema, Playhouse Cinema at Leominster Community Centre.

In your August 14 issue, a Leominster correspondent wrote "how good it would be if the old Leominster Cinema building could have been used to bring films back to the town, especially with the cost of petrol and car parking".

Playhouse Cinema has been screening films since 2009 at the community centre, including taking part in the prestigious Borderlines Festival and Leominster Festival.

We now screen every two weeks and hope to increase this if there is more audience demand for films.

Leominster has a community cinema, and we are proud to be part of the Arts Alive, flicks in the sticks!

Playhouse Cinema has also recently started screening National Theatre Live productions.

The next screening will be the timeless masterpiece A Streetcar Named Desire on Tuesday, September 16, direct from the National Theatre and starring Gilliam Anderson (X Files, The Fall).
