I'VE lived in Chartwell Road for a few number of years now and I've never seen the grass on what we call the green as long as this before.

I'm all for saving money but over the last two weeks I've noticed all the children that play football, cricket, tennis are now playing these games on the road. I'm thinking safety is more important than money now.

I wonder what is in that grass apart from lost footballs and tennis balls. Surely whatever they cut up now isn't going to be very hygienic. So our children still won't be able to play safely for a whole...

I WRITE regarding the play area at the end of Tower Road in Hereford. The grass was so long it could not be used as a play area and when it was cut yesterday, all the cuttings were left on the field so it is still no good as a play space.

I understand that the ground was given to Hereford City by the Bulmer family in the late 19th/early 20th century in perpetuity as a recreation facility and no doubt the city (now replaced by the county council) would be required to ensure its upkeep.

One of my concerns is that in its present condition it cannot serve as a play and recreation space and deprives children and young people of such a requirement – perhaps driving them to use areas such as the roads which puts them in considerable danger.

I am sure this must apply to many other such areas in the county which are being left uncut.
