I WRITE regarding last week’s story about the young man driving off the road due to a sign being obscured by long grass.
The Highway Code (Rule 126) states that “You should always be able to stop safely in the distance you can see to be clear.”
Unfortunately, most learners’ focus is on passing the driving test and the belief that you learn to ‘drive properly’ after passing the test. So this will be an expensive lesson for him.
We are all responsible for our own and everyone else’s safety on our roads and could all improve our own driving, it’s not always the ‘other driver’; sometimes it must be us.
