I HAVE sat for the last two weeks wondering when our local supermarket fuel station in Leominster, was going to drop it's price of what is most people's biggest weekly bill after the mortgage. Petrol/Diesel.

In Hereford even the independent fuel station by the hospital offers fuel for five pence a litre cheaper than the cheapest fuel in Leominster just 13 miles away.

So, the only conclusion can be is that the towns folk are being held to ransom by the greedy price strategy of a supermarket that turns over millions of pounds per annum. Surely their buying power at the refineries far out weigh's that of a tiny six car forecourt in Hereford, and they can get a much better discount on the daily price set by the oil companies.

I think it's about time the office of fair trading and trading standards got involved with what we the public can see happening on a daily basis. On fair trading alone, it wasn't long ago that super markets used their buying power to undercut the independent fuel retailers by four pence a litre on a regular basis, not the other way round.

Before writing this (November 22) I checked on petrolprices.com to make sure I was right and the data was correct.

So by price checking online, you can save £3.50 a week filling the average car or £182 a year. Putting it into context tax your car for free.
