THREE John Masefield High School students have been hailed as Herefordshire Community Champions because of their involvement with the Strong Young Minds mental health project.

A school spokesman said: "Our group of dedicated 'Strong Young Minds' students have been working extremely hard to raise awareness and support for students facing difficulties with mental health.

"They have led a series of assemblies, a workshop for school staff and several other activities with enthusiasm, skill and excellent communication skills. Many students have contributed to the group and they were nominated and shortlisted for the Herefordshire Community Champions Award 2018.

"Georgie Westaway, Zac Godfrey and Millie McCarthy represented the group by attending an awards ceremony and dinner, at Hereford Town Hall, and were delighted to be selected as winners."

The spokesman added: "As a school we support students through the pastoral / house system and with help from external agencies, including Strong Young Minds, and we have links to external agencies on our website."
