A LEDBURY-BASED support charity for parents and families affected by the loss of a baby will receive a donation from Heineken's ‘Brewing Good Community Fund’.

Her own experience of losing a child inspired Ledbury resident Sam Jones to set up the Madison Shelbie Trust, named in memory of her stillborn baby girl, which offers a wide range of services to help those affected by loss.

The aim of the trust is to provide bereavement support at the labour wards in Hereford County Hospital and Worcester Royal Hospital "for parents and families affected by the loss of a baby during pregnancy, labour, birth or shortly after, to help reduce the distress and provide emotional support".

Now the trust is to get a share of £10,000 provided by Heineken for various good causes.

Sam said: "We were delighted to be invited for a tour of the Bulmers site in Hereford and to attend a presentation to local charities organised by Heineken. We had been nominated to receive this by Karen Randall, a dear friend and also a bereaved mum who I met when Karen's daughter was stillborn. Karen is an avid supporter of our charity and she is also an employee at Bulmers."

Sam added: "During the visit the groups were hosted by Richard Hill from Heineken and Karen who took us on an extremely interesting and enjoyable tour of their site at the Bulmer’s operation in Hereford. This was a great opportunity to meet with many other worthy charities those of whom were also nominated for the fund and that provide amazing services in the area. We extend our thanks once again to Karen for nominating us and of course Bulmers and Heineken for the funding and look forward to putting it to good use and continuing the valuable support we provide throughout Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Without the financial support we would not be able to exist "
