A PARTNERSHIP between Ledbury First Responders, Ledbury Allotment Association and local farmer George Leeds of Withers Farm has resulted in the installation of a new defibrillator on the outskirts of Ledbury.
Using a defibrillator on an individual in cardiac arrest increases their survival rate by up to 60 per cent. The unit could potentially save valuable minutes and improve survival odds in the case of a cardiac arrest.
With around 100 allotment plots and hundreds of farm workers working around the area, the defibrillator on the Burtons Lane site is an extremely positive move, offering a potential lifeline to people.
Diane Pearson from West Midlands Ambulance Service gave a morning’s training to around 20 members of the allotment association and staff from Withers Farm. The training was very well received, and plans are afoot for general first aid training in the future.
