A BOSBURY dairy farm will be opening its gates to visitors this weekend, in support of the Linking Environment and Farms 'Open Farm Sunday" initiative.

The team at Beaconhill Farm at Bosbury will offer visitors the opportunity "to see first-hand all that farmers do and the impact their work has on all our lives".

John Barron from Beaconhill Farm said: “In today’s society there is a lot of misunderstanding and lack of knowledge about where our food comes from and what goes into our food. We produce lovely fresh milk and delicious ice cream at our farm.

"My team and I are proud of the work we do and really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our farm.”

He added: "Beaconhill Farm is the home of a small select herd of pedigree jersey cows. The rich creamy milk is made into a luxury farmhouse ice cream available in a range of flavours from the farm's new ice cream parlour, which will be opening its doors on the day.

"And as well as supplying milk to ultimately end up in the supermarket fridge, the farm is also authorised by the Food Standards Agency to sell milk and cream unpasteurised, direct to consumers."

Visitors this Sunday can also join wo guided farm walks, starting at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Conducted by Mr Barron, and lasting approximately one hour each, the tours will start in the milking parlour and move out to the fields where there will be an opportunity to meet the milking herd.

Mr Barron added: "Children will also get to see young calves and learn about where milk comes from."

The farm, off Nashend Lane, will be open this Sunday, June 11, from 11am to 5pm, and entrance will be free.
