VOTERS in Ledbury and the surrounding area will have the choice of six candidates when it comes to the general election next month.

Tory Bill Wiggin, the North Herefordshire incumbent, will be seeking to defend his 2015 majority of nearly 20,000, with five challengers seeking to unseat him.

They are Ellie Chowns (Green Party), Arthur St John Devine (Independent), Jeanie Falconer (Lib Dem), Sasha Rose Alicia Norris (Independent) and Roger William Page (Labour Party)

Meanwhile, over in Hereford and South Herefordshire, another Tory, Jesse Norman, also faces five opponents i, the polling in Thursday, June 8.

Anna Coda (Labour Party), Lucy Ann Hurds (Lib Dem), Jim Kenyon (Independent), Gwyn James Price (UKIP) and Diana Stella Toynbee (Green Party) are all vying for the seat that Mr Norman won with a near-17,000 majority last time around.

The deadline to register to vote is Monday, May 22. Postal and proxy votes can be requested online until Tuesday, May 23, and registering can be done online at herefordshire.gov.uk/voting.
