UPDATE: M50 eastbound re-opened at just before 10pm between junction two (Ledbury) and junction one (Tewkesbury) following the recovery of a HGV which caught fire.

THE M50 in Worcestershire is closed eastbound after a lorry caught fire this evening (Wednesday).

It is closed between junction two (Ledbury) and junction one (Tewkesbury) to recover the HGV.

Traffic is being diverted via the 'solid square' diversion route, Highways England said.

Vehicles leave the M50 at junction two eastbound and turns right onto the A417.

Continue until you reach the roundabout with the exit for the A40 and take the first exit onto the A40.

Continue until you reach the M5 junction 11 turn off.

Exit the A40 and take the first exit from the roundabout onto the M5 northbound.

Highways England advised drivers to allow extra time to complete their journey.
