POLICE are linking at least two incidents of house windows being broken by vandals in Ledbury, and extra patrols have been put on, to help prevent further cases.

Police say no-one was hurt in any of the attacks; but with several cases of broken windows being reported on social media, including at Bridge Street; Barnett Avenue, Browning Road, Lawnside Road, Golding Way, Oatleys Terrace and Farjeon Close, the spate of criminal damage has caused some unease on the Facebook site, Voice of Ledbury.

One Ledbury resident who had a window targeted posted: "The police officer that came to us last night said it looks like not every incident is being reported. We were lucky because our windows didn't break; but the situation need sorting because someone will end up hurt."

There has also been speculation on Voice of Ledbury that some kind of BB gun was being used, or perhaps a pea shooter.

One Ledbury resident posted: "Some idiot has probably had a BB gun for Christmas."

But police have not confirmed whether or not a weapon was being used, as officers still attempt "to establish the circumstances".

Sergeant Nick Green from the Ledbury Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "We are aware of several reports of house windows being damaged in Ledbury over the Christmas period.

“Fortunately, no-one was hurt, but enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances. We are also carrying out additional patrols throughout the town."

He added: "I'd encourage anyone affected to get in touch. Please contact us if you have any information about who is responsible."

More incidents appear to have taken place than have been reported to police.

A police spokesman said: "Four incidents have been reported to us, regarding windows being damaged."

Officers are currently linking only two of the incidents.

Officers think the Browning Road incident is linked to another case, at nearby Farjeon Close, also on the New Mills.
