POLICE were called after youths were seen gathering outside a zumba class in St Katherine's Hall, the High Street, on Monday evening (December 5).

This follows a recent incident when a zumba class at Ledbury Community Hall, Lawnside Road, was actually disrupted by youths, who took pictures of the women, and one youth set off a fire extinguisher in the foyer.

In the latest incident, the youths did not enter the building, but police are still appealing for information.

A police spokesman said: "We were made aware of an incident at a premises on High Street in Ledbury yesterday evening (December 5).

"It followed reports a group of youths had been seen outside a building while a dance class was taking place around 6pm. The group did not enter the building."

Meanwhile, the leader of the Community Hall zumba class, which was actually disrupted by youths, has spoken of her experience.

Sylvia Marie Wagstaff said:"I'm not sure I would use the word upset; we were more shocked as it has never happened before and Ledbury is such a lovely town with a great community spirit.

"I have never felt unsafe teaching zumba there. These boys were more mischievous than threatening although they did steal the fire extinguisher, so they did commit an offence." She added: "All in all we were not upset; it's just a shame that this kind of behaviour occurred really. We lock the doors now when we have our zumba class."

Anyone with information about the incident outside St Katherine's Hall this Monday should call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 644S of December 5.
