A FASHION show in Colwall to raise money for a mental healthy charity was a great success, with more that £1,500 being raised in total.

The event was organised by village resident Rosemary Wilson in memory of a Worcester teenager who took his own life earlier this year.

Felix Alexander, aged 17, of Droitwich Road, died after being hit by a train at Abbotswood Junction, Norton, just outside Worcester, on April 27.

The Worcestershire coroner recorded a verdict of suicide and Mr Alexander's family urged friends to commemorate him by supporting the charity Place2Be, which provides emotional and therapeutic services in schools.

Mrs Robinson said: "I've got quite a large collection of 80s clothes and I decided to hold a fashion show to raise money for a good cause.

"My sister suggested Place2Be because she has a son who went to Kings and knew members of Felix's family."

The show took place in Colwall Village Hall, Mill Lane, with compere Ben Cooper from BBC’s Bargain Hunt, and music from local band Rewind.

Mrs Robinson said: "The show went really well. There was over 100 people present, Ben Cooper did a great job as compere and the band was super.

"The total raised currently stands at £1550. I am having a stall at the December Flea Market at the Three Counties and will be selling more of the clothes from the show - hopefully we will be able to raise the total further."

Last month, Felix's mother, Lucy Alexander, released an open letter calling on young people to do more to stop other young lives being lost.

She revealed that her son took his life after online abuse from people he did not even know became too much for him to bear.
