POLICE were called to reports of a three car collision on the Co-op car park in New Street, Ledbury.

The shunt took place on Sunday, November 13, at around 11.40am, and the accident involved a silver Vauxhall, a blue Ford Focus and a silver Volkswagen Passat.

One of the cars lost a door due to the collision; but no one was seriously injured, although an ambulance was sent from Hereford and a crew arrived shortly after the police.

West Midlands Ambulance service say that a man in his seventies was treated for the effects of shock at the scene, before being discharged at the scene.

Before then, then had been attended to by a nurse, who happened to be present.

It is not known whether the elderly man had just attended the Remembrance Day service in Ledbury.

A witness of the immediate aftermath was Jan Long, of Bromsberrow, who had just left the Remembrance Day service and parade in Ledbury High Street.

She said: "After the service I made my way back to the Co-op to collect my car and heard a terrific crash; and there had been a dramatic collision.

"One poor old chap lost his door. His door was on the ground and another car was damaged, as was the black car where one of the cars came to rest.

"A large car as shunted about two feet by the impact and the passenger who was asleep in the front had a terrible shock."

Mrs Long believes it was fortunate that the sleeping passenger was in the front of the vehicle, not the back.
