A LOCAL pensioner, now recovering at home from a nasty fall, is planning to go straight back to Ledbury town centre as soon as she can, where she will say a big thank to everyone who looked after her so well, following her accident.

Betty Kilvington, aged 86, of Barnards Green, Malvern, says she has "never known kindness" like the kindness she experienced in Ledbury town centre, last Friday (October 8) .

Mrs Kilvington was enjoying a day out shopping in Ledbury when she suffered a fall while visiting the Homend Mews, off the Homend.

She had experienced a long walk from the top of the Homend before she had her tumble, because she'd experienced problems getting a parking space closer to the town centre.

She fell hard onto her knees, onto concrete, while carrying a umbrella, a walking stick and shopping, and her knee burst open where she'd had a recent knee replacement operation.

Mrs Kilvington, who was shopping with her daughter Denise, was in shock and Ledbury shopkeepers and members of the public brought her hot water bottles and blankets to keep her comfortable and warm until the ambulance arrived.

A total of seven blankets were provided. Local

people also brought her glasses of water.

Her daughter was able to park up the car on a private driveway, thanks to the kindness of a local person, shortly before her mum to taken to Hereford Hospital by ambulance.

Mrs Kilvington said: "I was in a state, but people were so kind. When I get right, I will go back and thank them all myself. I have a really good impression of Ledbury. I've never known such kindness."

Mrs Kilvington is now on the mend.

She spent five hours in hospital; her knee required stitches and it is still badly swollen.

But X-rays taken at Hereford Hospital revealed that the knee replacement was not damaged.
