LAKEFEST at Eastnor looks set to become an annual summer tradition, with organisers saying they are pleased with the new venue while already planning ahead for the 2017 music festival.

It was the first time that the Lakefest spectacle had come to the Eastnor deer park.

In 2015 and 2014, Lakefest took place at the Croft Farm Waterpark, near Tewkesbury.

But Gloucestershire's loss could well be Herefordshire's gain again, next year.

With 7,000 visitors recorded over the long weekend at Eastnor, from Thursday August 11 to Sunday August 14, the Lakefest directors Lee Martin, Steve Daff and Martin Newell are sounding a more than satisfied note this week, saying they were "thrilled" by the festival's success.

In a joint statement they said: "It was our best year yet; 7,000 people joined us at the new venue and we are thrilled with the positive feedback and support.

"The whole weekend was totally amazing and we are completely overwhelmed by the reactions and thrilled that everyone had such a great time. We honestly can't wait to start planning for next year.

"We are also sad that such a brilliant weekend is over for another year."

Headline acts at Lakefest this year included Primal Scream, We Are Scientists, Starsailor, The Coral, Newton Faulkner, Afro Celt Sound System, Big Country, Molotov Jukebox, Secret Affair, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Duke Special, Roving Crows, The Cracked, Erica, Foreign Affairs, Jasper in the Company of Others, Altern8 - Live P.A and Baby D.

Fields adjacent to the festival area became tent cities, as the sun beamed down on a wide spread of theatre goers, from families with children to hardcore festival afficionados.
