BROMYARD Community Transport has just taken delivery of a brand new minibus, thanks to government funding.

The new 16-seat Iveco bus replaces one of the trust’s older vehicles and was almost immediately put to good use, taking the town's Trefoil Guild to London for the day.

It was paid for thanks to a successful bid to the Department for Transport £25 million Community Transport fund, launched to improve the everyday lives of people in rural communities.

The trust’s clients can enjoy travelling around in comfort and style in the new bus, which also provides easy access with a tail lift for wheelchair users.

Cathy Marsh of the trust said: "The new minibus has given both Bromyard Community Trust and its volunteer drivers a much-needed boost.

"Funding initiatives such as the Department for Transport minibus fund plus having a dedicated team of volunteers enables the trust to continue providing its affordable and accessible transport.

"Bromyard Community Trust’s transport services are available for everyone living in Bromyard and its surrounding area that are unable to use mainstream transport services.

"Clients’ transport needs are many and varied, ranging from health appointments, visiting shops and hairdressers, attending interviews, linking to bus and train stations and visiting friends and social events."

She said the trust is also interested in hearing from potential volunteers or form people who can support its work with a donation or a legacy.

She said: " Help us today, you may need us tomorrow."

The new minibus is available for local groups to hire, and anyone interested in hiring it, or to book any of the other services the trust offers, including dial-a-ride, community cars, day outings and a monthly shopping service, should contact the office on 01885 488452 or info@goBromyard Community Trust.org.uk.
