NEWENT's Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester are in silver medal position as the Great Britain dressage team enter the final day today.

Dujardin and horse Valegro delivered a stunning display on their return to the Olympic arena yesterday.

The combination that won gold at London 2012, winning team and individual gold, scored 85.071 per cent - two per cent clear of the field and lifted the British team of Dujardin, Hester, Spence Wilton and Fiona Bigwood from fourth to second.

The team competition concludes today with Germany on 81.424 per cent and Britain lying in second on 79.252 per cent.

Dujardin could become the first British woman to win three Olympic gold medals.

She said: "I think, for me, going in there today was about going in and enjoying it. That was the biggest thing.

"I watched a lot of people on the first day going in there looking nervous.

"I thought, 'It's my absolute passion, I've got the horse of my life, I've got a top trainer and huge support team around me, so go out there and enjoy it'."

Dujardin came to work for Hester at his yard near Newent in 2007. They both won team gold at the last Olympics and Dujardin won a second gold in the individual dressage.

The battle for team gold will start at 2pm.
