BUNTING is flying in the Master's House in Ledbury to commemorate every single tradesperson and individual involved in the £2.9m restoration of the medieval building.

The bunting project, which was launched in 2015, is now almost complete, with 320 out of the planned 360 sewn pennants now on show in the building, which is also Ledbury's library.

Project spokesman, Jayne Wright said: "Out of a total of 360, 320 or so have been completed, and these have been professionally backed and hung.

"Their first outing, with the pennants all strung together, was at Ledbury Community Day, on June 11, where they were exhibited in the Master's House library; and there was a 'Pennants' Party' celebration, for all those who contributed to this sterling effort, on July 12. Volunteers from across the Ledbury community, including the Ledbury and District U3A and local schools, have been involved

with the pennants' creation."

She added: "There are still around 40 pennants remaining to be completed, to reach the target number, and further volunteers will be very welcome. It is envisaged that the bunting will be displayed in the Master' s House for some time to come, for all to enjoy.

"A recent visitor to the library explained that he actually worked for the firm that had carried out the groundworks for the Master's House. His friend, who has sadly died, was involved with the pennant project. The visitor was really pleased to be able to take a photograph of that particular piece of bunting - demonstrating that the person is not forgotten and will be remembered in perpetuity, as will be the case for all pieces and their creators."

Ledbury's Master's House is a largely half-timbered building, on St Katherine's car park, and dates back to the late fifteenth century.
