TEN teachers at the John Masefield High School in Ledbury will take part in the NUT strike tomorrow, Tuesday July 5, but the school will stay open.

Head teacher, Andy Evans said: "The school day will continue as normal for all students, with a few lessons cancelled due to the strike.

"The after school lessons in science for Y10 and languages for Y8 will continue as usual. Sports day has been moved to Thursday July 21."

He added: "Where lessons have to be cancelled, students in Y7-Y10 will go to alternative activities which may include recreational sport, supervised study in an ICT room or watching a student performance or film in the theatre.

"The Sixth Form Transition day for Y11 students, which was planned for the 5th July, will now take place on 12th July. No other sessions have been affected. An amended timetable has been sent to students."

Mr Evans added: "Nearly all Y12 lessons will continue as planned, therefore all Y12 students should attend as normal on Tuesday. Only one lesson in one subject will need to be cancelled. Students affected by this will be contacted directly.

"The teachers taking part have stressed to me that the strike is in response to national government policies and that they are all highly supportive of JMHS as a school and of the leadership, management and governance of the school."
