THE best of Ledbury will be on show for the town's Community Day, with more than seventy local groups signed up to show what Ledbury does best and does well.

The programme is coming together strongly for the event on Saturday, June 10, "to show what’s good about Ledbury and celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s official 90th birthday".

Spokesman,Griff Holliday said: "This year the event will spread over three halls: the Burgage Hall, St Katherine’s Hall and the Community Hall – and twelve other places in Ledbury.

"The Master’s House and Library will be open with special photographic exhibition celebrating local food, a super film featuring the Poetry Festival, tours and other attractions.

St Katherine’s Chapel will be open, and St Michael and All Angels Church with a number of events, and the Methodist Church with a flower festival will both be there to welcome visitors."

The residential home, Leadon Bank will be putting on an afternoon of entertainment, including a ukulele band, and both the Tennis Club and the Bowling Club will be running "have a go" sessions.

The Community Brass Band will be providing the music, and Ledbury Swifts junior footballers will be cycling to Sweden under the Market House.

Mr Holliday said: "Community Day is a great time to find out what you can do in Ledbury. A wide range of groups will be present to tell you about volunteering, general interest and educational opportunities of all kinds available locally, and how to improve your lifestyle.

"Children from Ledbury Primary School look forward to telling you about their Values School and plans to make Ledbury a Values Town."

People will be able to see the “Little Sweden” room at the Talbot, which celebrates the town's twinning links with Stromstad.

And they will also be able to try cage football, call in at the mobile police station in the High Street, and find out about Ledbury’s Armed Forces’ Day on June 24, with a display at the Royal British Legion Club.

More details of the day will be available shortly on www.ledburycommunityday.org.uk and in the free event programme available from late May around the town.
