STAFF from Euroheat, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of wood-burning stoves and biomass boilers, will be taking to the skies for a 13,000ft tandem parachute jump in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Flying from Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield tomorrow (Saturday), the 11-strong team will all undertake a one-mile free fall over beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, achieving a speed of at least 120mph, before the parachute opens.

Dick Stephens, who organised the fundraising event, said: “We are hoping to raise a significant amount of money for this excellent charity and will be asking our friends, families, customers and suppliers for donations. For all of us who are taking part, this will be an amazing, some say terrifying, once-in-a-lifetime experience whilst also raising funds for a great cause”.

Prostate Cancer UK is the leading charity funding research into a disease that affects over 44,000 men every year and the chances of developing prostate cancer are 1 in 8. Most of those affected, with early diagnosis, could make a full recovery.

Euroheat, which has been based at Bishop’s Frome, near Ledbury, for over 20 years, has its own reason to support this charity.

Managing director Mike Barber-Starkey said: “Over the years, we’ve had members of our own team personally affected by the disease so, as a company, we wanted to show our support for the charity. As directors, we have funded the payments needed for each employee to take part, so that all the money that they raise goes directly to the charity.”

A fundraising page has been set up and can be accessed from the Euroheat homepage. All donations - and messages of support and encouragement - are welcome.
