TWO staff members of Ledbury Town Council have made separate grievance statements concerning the same two Ledbury town councillors.

The names of both the two councillors and the two staff members involved have not been released by the town council.

And the nature of the claims in the grievance statements have also not been made public.

But the statements from the staff members were shown to members of the town council's standing committee on Tuesday, December 22, during a meeting at which members of the public were excluded; and there have been further confidential discussions since, to decide the way forward.

It was agreed that a town council grievance panel should be set up, during a meeting on Tuesday, January 19, when five town councillors were appointed to sit on the panel.

At that meeting, it was also agreed that the town council should set sanctions "if the grievance was upheld".

It was also agreed that the parties involved should "cease direct communication" while the process to look into the grievance statements was in place.

The town council has also agree to make use of support services from the Herefordshire Association of Local Councils (HALC).

An update on this grievance procedure was also given at last week's full town council meeting.
