LEDBURY people will be able to catch up with the aims and direction of the Town Plan during the Big Breakfast weekend, by attending an informative public exhibition.

There will be a public display of the "action plans" in the town council offices, on Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30.

The Town Plan is one of the cornerstones of future town planning in Ledbury.

The Town Plan, the Neighbourhood Plan and Herefordshire Council's "Core Strategy" document will direct how and where Ledbury can develop as a town for the next two decades or so.

A Town Plan spokesman said: "Visitors will be able to view the objectives and action plans identified following the analysis of all the data gathered throughout the whole project.

"This will be on display in the Town Council’s recently refurbished Panelled Committee Rooms, in Church Lane, between 10am to 2pm on Friday Saturday 29 and Saturday January 30."

Members of the plan group will be on hand to answer questions "and capture comments and feedback".

Cllr Liz Harvey, Chairman of the Town Plan group said:

“All the comments and ideas gathered through public consultations, surveys and questionnaires have now been brought together to form this comprehensive action plan for the town. We hope everyone who has been involved will recognise and relate to what they see in the exhibition.”

Local volunteer and Steering Group Secretary, Griff Holliday added: “The Town Council is already putting a number of our proposals into practice: a youth council; better promotion of the town to visitors; action on traffic and parking problems; investment in the Recreation Ground; plans for town centre improvements; investment in markets and town centre events.

"It’s gratifying to have firm backing for people’s ideas coming forward so quickly.”

Mary Winfield, Chairman of the group which produced a previous Town Plan for the town said: “By ensuring that the Plan and its action-framework remain central to the Town Council’s activities, this new Plan can build solidly on the work done in 2008 and bring to further fruition the ideas and aspirations contained therein.

"I am happy to endorse the new Town Plan for Ledbury. My thanks go to all those involved in its creation, together with my best wishes for its successful implementation."
