STAFF from the Tesco store in Ledbury had a "fantastic" time manning a charity shop in the town.

A team of 11 supermarket employees have signed up to run the St Michael's Hospice charity shop in The Homend every Wednesday.

And this week they celebrated their first shifts at the shop, which has previously been closed on Wednesdays due to a lack of volunteers.

Tesco's volunteers spent Wednesday (November 4) sorting donation bags, stacking the charity shop's shelves and serving customers.

Dawn Davies, people manager at Tesco in Ledbury, said: "Everyone was really excited to volunteer and we just wanted to get on with it and get stuck in.

"The hospice is really pleased with the partnership and is hoping that the extra day will generate some really great revenue for its charitable work.

"It has been a fantastic experience and great that it has now happened."

She added displays are being set up in the Tesco store to promote St Michael's Hospice and the supermarket's efforts to support its charity shop.
