A LINGERIE shop in Ledbury will be sending more than 100 new bras to Syria in a bid to help the plight of women in the troubled country.

Debby Houlbrook, owner of Debby and Jilly Lingerie in Homend Mews, The Homend, has organised the project and is appealing for members of the public to donate their nearly new bras.

She said: "The human catastrophe across North Africa and the Middle East has forced millions of people to abandon their homes, their belongings and their jobs.

"They have nothing - all the little things we take for granted are gone.

"Every woman in the camp needs underwear, possibly the most overlooked items to have been donated.

"At Debby and Jilly Lingerie we want to do anything we can to help so we will be sending over 100 bras to the Syrian women."

For a £5 donation the shop will be able to send a pair of knickers to Syria or alternatively donated items can be dropped into the store.
