A WOMAN who works for a Malvern-based care provider has won an award for her fundraising for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Hannah Palmer, aged 26, has been named the charity's Extreme Fundraiser of the Year after raising £5,000 for help fund its helicopter rescue missions.

Her father, grasstrack motorcycle rider Calvin Palmer, of Hereford, was seriously injured during a motorcycle race in Bewdley in 2013 and was flown to hospital in Birmingham by the sir ambulance.

She said: "We were told by the consulting surgeon that if it weren’t for the speed and professionalism of the air ambulance crew, he would not be alive today, so I was determined to raise £5,000."

Miss Palmer raised the money by going on a sponsored motorcycle sidecar ride with British speedway champion Mark Cossar. She also had a specially designed tattoo emblazoned on her back to honour the wonderful work done by the charity.

She works at the care provider Right at Home, based in Avenue Road, Malvern, and Susie Goodwin of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity came to the office to present her with her certificate.

Richard Turner, the company's managing director, said: " “Hannah is a hard-working, competent member of my team, and very popular with Right At Home clients. Her dedication is apparent to everyone so I am not surprised that she achieved so much in such a short space of time. We are all extremely proud of her achievements, and delighted that her efforts have been recognised with an award.”
