CROWDS of up to 6000 people, twice the number of the 2014 turn-out, are expected at the Much Marcle Model Air Show.

Last year's show was the first for a number of years and the turn-out was not as large as anticipated.

This year, with some truly immense flying scale models in the line-up, including a half-sized Bleriot monoplane, the interest is expected to be higher.

The Bleriot is famous in aviation history as the first aircraft to manage a crossing of the English Channel, back in 1909.

Two scale models of the World World Two American bomber, the B17, will carry out a fly past, over Rye Meadows.

These of veterans from the Hollywood war movie, Memphis Belle, each with a 18ft 6 inch wingspan.

There will also be a fly-past by a model of the Cold War "V-bomber", the mighty Vulcan. This aircraft has a 12ft wingspan.

In total, organisers are promised over 80 model aircraft for the show, including to scale model "Airbus" airliners, which have working jet engines. These airliners have 17ft wingspans.

Show organiser, Dave Johnson of the Large Model Association, said: "Before 2014, the show had been cancelled for three years, due to bad weather.

"But we can get good weather in September. Hopefully, the summer will arrive."

The end of the season spectacular will take place at the Rye Meadow venue on Saturday, September 5 and the following day, from 10am to 5pm each day.

There are already indications of a large turn-out. Half the available camping slots have been taken in advance and traders are queueing up for slots.

Over twenty traders will have stands over the two days
