LEDBURY'S MP, Bill Wiggin has welcomed the latest unemployment figures, which show a fall, including in his own constituency of North Herefordshire.

New statistics from the Office of National Statistics this week show that the number of unemployed claimants in North Herefordshire constituency in May stood at 466, which is a fall of 11 from April 2015 and a fall of of 192, compared with May 2014.

Mr Wiggin said: “It is fantastic to see the General Election did not disrupt our recovering economy and prevent more North Herefordshire residents from finding much needed jobs.

"I am always very pleased to discover that more people in North Herefordshire, - eleven more this month than last month, have the security of a monthly pay packet."

Nationally there was more good news as the number unemployed people fell by 43,000 to reach 1.81 million.

Mr Wiggin said: "It is also very important to remember the vast majority of the rise in employment in the last year – 85% – has been in full-time work.”
