AN appeal has been launched to find a lost snake which was discovered by a couple in their garden.

The male, adult milk snake was found in the bushes of the couple's front garden in Barker Street. They took it in and tried to locate its owner after grabbing it with a pillowcase.

Wanting to remain anonymous, the boyfriend said: "We spotted the snake in the grass at our feet in our front garden on Sunday afternoon, heading for the bushes.

"My girlfriend caught it in a pillowcase while I was trying to identify it on my phone. A fun Sunday was had by all.

"We held on to it and made a makeshift heated enclosure, but it wasn't a great solution with a cat in the house."

Posters have been put up around the local area, in Worcester, and the snake is currently residing in a wildlife hospital for boarding until the owner comes forward.

It was uninjured during the ordeal.

A spokesman for the RSPCA said: "The RSPCA were called about the snake found in Barker Street on Monday, April 13.

"The snake had been confined while an RSPCA officer travelled to the scene to collect it.

"It has been identified as an adult milk snake, and thankfully showed no sign of obvious injury.

"The RSPCA took the snake to a nearby wildlife hospital for boarding.

"Posters have been put up in the local area appealing for the snake's owner to come forward."

If you are the owner of the snake, contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
