EVEN Lord Alan Sugar couldn’t fail to be impressed by a Worcestershire woman’s selling skills, after she flogged £100,000 of goods for charity on eBay.

Lynne Beckett, a former nurse from Stourport, has raised the six-figure sum for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity over the past 5 years.

Her efforts have funded 40 helicopter missions and helped provide life-saving care to casualties of horrific accidents and crashes.

She said: “I am so, so pleased and proud to have reached £100,000.

“I never thought I would get to such a milestone but it has now fuelled my fire to reach £200,000 even quicker.

“I love helping Midlands Air Ambulance and it is amazing how many families are supported by its life-saving work.

“I used to work as a scrub nurse at Kidderminster Hospital and saw many patients who wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for Midlands Air Ambulance.

“A helicopter also helped my husband’s family when his cousin was involved in a road traffic collision, which obviously gave the cause a personal meaning to me.”

Mrs Beckett, who retired early due to health problems, started fundraising to fill her time and help others.

Her house now resembles a post office sorting room, piled high with parcels of toys, clothes and craft items she has listed on the online auction site.

Every day she works on the fundraising activity, which began as a small hobby selling cross stitch items before “exploding into a major operation”.

She now auctions items donated by members of the public and has even received a certificate from eBay recognising her as one of the site’s best charity sellers.

Jason Levy, fundraising and marketing director at the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We are blessed with a terrific level of support from the public and Lynne has been an amazing contributor to our charity for the last five years.

“The milestone £100,000 raised through her eBay sales has helped to fund 40 air ambulance missions in the region, which is an incredible achievement and one we are extremely grateful for.

“Our thanks go to Lynne, her family and everyone who has purchased items from her on eBay.”
