THE records have been checked and Dymock weather watcher, Tony Denby, has declared last October to be "the fourth wettest month that I have recorded over the last thirty years".

It was also the wettest October ever recorded by Mr Denby, - "double the average".

A total of 169.9mm of rain fell in the Dymock area in October.

Mr Denby noted that autumn colours arrived last this year, and the weather conditions helped to produce good crops of damsons, although apples and pears tended to be smaller than usual.
