STAFF at a Ledbury pharmacy have received a top award from their company for the care they take of their customers.

The employees at Day Lewis Pharmacy in Bye Street have beat every other branch in the 250-strong chain to be named Pharmacy Team of the Year 2014.

Staff members went done to the company's annual conference in London in Saturday and were delighted to learn they had won the top award.

Branch manager Magdalen Bogdan said: "We're really pleased to have been recognised in this way. The team here always makes an extra special effort and we're very proud of the work that they do."

Among the team's community initiatives that years have been raising money for cancer charities and Megan Baker House.

They have also been raising awareness of dementia with the Purple Angel Initiative, and used their specialist training to help one of their customers when they spotted the signs of dementia, referring her to the local GP..

They also go into the community with their flu vaccination clinic, visiting local businesses and care homes, and use Facebook and Twitter to stay in touch with customers.
