A SUM of over £10,000 is to be spent by Ledbury Town Council to improve facilities at the Recreation Ground.

The popular cable ride is to be replaced with a similar ride, costing £9750, and the grind rail in the skate part is to be re-positioned, at a cost to the town council budget of £585.

The improvements will take place during this financial year.

But the town council is looking for further improvements, as part of a five to ten year plan, for a phased replacement of other items on the Recreation Ground which have come to the end of the road.

This plan, if approved, could see £10,000 spent every year in the allotted time scale.

Some ideas have already been discussed by the Recreation Ground Working Party.

The council is to get quotes to replace the Igloo Climber with a wheelchair accessible roundabout.

And the existing toddler unit could be replaced with an item called a "Finno Activity Tower".

The council is also looking in quotes to replace up to three picnic tables.

With changes in the pipeline, the council is considering setting up a Recreation Ground User Group, similar to the user group that exists for Ledbury Library, to discuss how facilities can be improved and, possibly, to fund-raise.
