A FILM featuring memories from Hereford's old livestock market will be screened at Ledbury Market Theatre on Friday, October 3.

The screening of Chewing the Cud, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, will be followed by a question and answer session with producers and participants.

Produced by Hereford-based Catcher Media Social along with a group of talented trainees from across the county, the film portrays the showmanship and characters that gave the market its vibrancy and unique heritage.

There are anecdotes about traders juggling china, livestock drovers driving their flocks through town, visits by The Queen, children playing in the market after hours, the happy crowds arriving for Miners Fortnight and stubborn pigs.

It features interviews with farmers, auctioneers, townspeople, breeders, traders, and council workers.

Julia Goldsmith, from Catcher Media Social, said: "Audiences are enjoying seeing a film about the their own locality on the big screen and the question and answer after the film really adds to the whole shared experience and gives people a chance to share their own memories."

Chewing the Cud will be screened at 8pm.
