A CHARITY worker from Worcestershire is urging people in the county to sign up to a campaign raising cash to fight cancer.

The Stand Up To Cancer campaign run by Cancer Research UK is aiming to raise cash to fund research fighting the disease.

The campaign is running over a number of months and will culminate with a live fundraiser on Channel 4 hosted by Davina McCall, Alan Carr and celebrity doctor Christian Jessen.

The charity’s press officer for Worcestershire Jane Redman has urged everyone in the county to get involved.

“I work with many amazing cancer patients across Worcestershire to promote the work of Cancer Research UK,” she said.

“The fact that many of them are survivors is testament to the real difference research can make and the importance of continuing to fund it.

“Sadly not every patient I meet survives cancer. And that is why I want to do all I can to get everyone in Worcestershire to Stand Up To Cancer right now.

“We need to fight back by raising money so that brilliant research can be translated into treatments which will help patients faster.

“We have the technology and the knowledge to conquer cancer – we just need the funds to turn it into real-life treatments.”
