A FASHION show and shopping evening at the Happy Turtles Playschool in Dymock, near Ledbury, raised £180 to help pay for a new allotment.

The playschool organisers want to create the allotment so that the toddlers will me able to grow their own vegetables and other plants.

Playschool owner Frances Jupp said: ""One of our dads has cleared a space and created three beds for us and now the fun can start. The funds raised at the show will be huge help in getting us started."

Clothes for the show were provided by Raft Clothing of Newent and Ledbury, with Penny Gibson doing the makeup and Caroline Potter the photography.

Local businesses Nicky Sadler Homewares and Anneliese Appleby Letterpress Print were also there.

"I feel very strongly about supporting other local businesses and this was a great opportunity to do that, bringing an element of fun and glamour to our community," she said.

A donation of £20 was given to the Family Tree Children’s Centre in Newent from the evening.
