ART enthusiasts are being given a rare chance to view and bid for an outstanding collection of sporting and wildlife paintings and sculptures at The Game Conservancy Trust's charity art auction at Christie's in December.
Herefordshire artist Walenty Pytel will be joining 46 leading painters and sculptors who are donating part or all the auction proceeds from the sale of their work to the trust in support of its game and wildlife conservation research.
Walenty is renowned as Europe's leading metal sculptor of birds and beast. His inspired creations are drawn from nature and transform metal into works of living art. He has submitted a trout to the charity art auction.
The auction, which is show-casing many of our finest contemporary artists, is the brain-child of Philip Astor, a vice-chairman of The Game Conservancy Trust. Mr Astor said: "We have a very rich culture of producing some fantastically talented wildlife and sporting artists, and I am delighted that so many have generously agreed to submit pieces for The Game Conservancy Trust's Art auction in December. This is a fantastic opportunity to bid for some really terrific works of art and I am hugely grateful to all the artists for supporting the trust in such a positive way."
The list of artists that have submitted work for the auction reads like a Who's Who of the wildlife art world and includes favourite painters such as Rodger McPhail, Ashley Boon, Terence Lambert, Jonathan Sainsbury and Owen Williams, as well as leading sculptors such as Geoffrey Dashwood, Simon Gudgeon, Ian Greensitt and Alan Glasby.
The Game Conservancy Trust's Wildlife Art auction is being arranged in association with Christie's and will be held at Christie's King Street headquarters with the Christie's chairman, Dermot Chichester, acting as auctioneer.
