BUSINESS at Kington Youth Hostel is on the up and the number of people staying is increasing year on year, says the Youth Hostels Association.
The YHA dismissed as "nonsense" rumours that the two and a half-year-old hostel was threatened with closure because of a lack of bookings.
YHA Midlands regional manager Charlotte Judson said a funding arrangment with Advantage West Midlands tied the YHA to the Victoria Road building for another 22 years.
"We are encouraging more bookings mid-week from individuals, families and groups and are hoping to develop a classroom facility at the site to encourage more school visits," she said.
She added hostel weekends were "booked solid for the next year and beyond".
