Son's anger after father's six-hour wait at Hereford County Hospital

A WORRIED son says he never wants to visit Hereford County Hospital again after claiming his father spent six hours waiting to be seen following a stroke.

Lee Frayling says dad Walter’s time at the hospital has left him wishing he could go private.

Lee said the ambulance staff who took 67-year-old Walter to hospital from the home they share in Munderfield, near Bromyard, were fantastic.

But he thought the long wait and whole experience of the hospital’s accident and emergency department fell well short of expectations.

“I could not believe it,”

said Lee, 33.

“The nurses didn’t come and have a look at him. I never want to go in there again.”

Walter is now back at home but Lee said the experience has made him “absolutely petrified” of growing old and going into hospital.

Wye Valley NHS Trust said it was sorry to hear that Lee feels his father did not receive a timely assessment.

“We work to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence guidelines when making clinical assessments of patient needs,” said the trust.

“The family has raised concerns with us and we are looking into them.”
