Couple’s marathon run to thank cancer charity

A HUSBAND and wife will represent Herefordshire when they run the Edinburgh Marathon together.
Wendy and Andrew MacAusland of George Bew Close, Hereford, will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, but have their owns reasons for taking part in the run on May 27.
Wendy’s mother, Rev Barbara Chillington, was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2003. The priest, who lives in Peterchurch and worked in the Madley area, has been receiving support from Macmillian to help her cope with the rare and incurable cancer.
“The Macmillan nursing team help her to enjoy her life to the full and in comfort,” said Wendy, who ran the London Marathon with Barbara back in 1996.
“It’s because of them that I am putting my trainers back on to raise money for the charity and to show support for her. But I won’t be alone.”
Andrew, known as Mac, will be at Wendy’s side.
He is running his first ever marathon in memory of his sister Jane Mealins, who died in September 2010 after a year’s fight against leukaemia. She was also supported by Macmillan.
