THE people of Kington helped Jayne Fox and her family to raise £1,212 for the Macmillan Renton Unit at Hereford County Hospital.
They did it through a party night at the Burton Hotel with the music provided by The Bad Ass Grandads with Mrs Fox’s husband Phil playing in the band.
The event marked her successful fight against cancer and she thanked her family as well as people in Kington who gave prizes and donations.
The cheque was presented to cancer campaigners Allan and Angela Lloyd for the cancer unit. Mr Lloyd said it was a personal occasion for him because he had taught Mrs Fox at Lady Hawkins School and, as a chairman of the former Leominster District Council, had presented her with the Miss Kington crown in 1980.
